The Phalaenopsis is by far the most common orchid (it’s sometimes called the “moth orchid”) because it’s easy to produce, it’s widely available year-round, and it’s not as fussy as other varieties.

Skilled plant people could try to keep moth orchids as houseplants, and they’re certainly lovely, but for the rest of us, might I suggest the Nani Mau Garden arrangement? It’s an all-silk Phalaenopsis (even the sphagnum moss is faux) so it will never lose its blooms or fade. It’s the ideal orchid for the brown thumbs among us.
